Review Days 3: Downton Abbey season 1, episode 1

I've been waiting to do a review about this series. :)

I will do it per episode, because reviewing 2 episodes in one post is a lot of work and the review will be sooo long😏

DOWNTON ABBEY!!

Seeing it again for the third time brings back so much memories! I know the day I first saw Downton Abbey, it was on tv at my grandparents. They where watching it when it came on tv and they where in the middle of season 4 or 5. We could watch a while with them and I really liked, even though it was season 4 or 5. My grandma said we should watch it too, cause it was just AMAZING.
So we did and it was BEAUTIFUL, just BEAUTIFUL.

Now, rewatching it again, it made me give the feeling to review it. I have done a review before, but this time I'm going to focus on the episodes more. Since the vacation is almost over, so is my review days, I'm going to be reviewing a lot less, because school starts again. But I will try to write on on the reviews once a day. Because it isn't fun reading a review about a series who hasn't been finished yet, so I will extend it a little longer. :)
It's June 1912 in the first episode. The family Crawley and their staff are shocked to hear when they find out the Titanic has been sunk. And the heir to the title and fiancé of eldest daughter lady Mary perished on the Titanic.

We meet the staff first.
I love it that they actually introduced the staff first and then the family Crawley. The staff plays a big role in Downton, they are part of the family and have been their for so long! There where staff that went away and their came new staff. There is never a dull moment downstairs. :)
We see Mary next. I think she has the lead role, because we see her in every episode of the series. She is an important person in the show (let's call it a show, because it's an easy word).

I loved the scene where we see Lord Grantham at first, walking down the big stairs with his cute dog Isis.😊
Now we see the the family in the dinner room. We meet the Crawley sisters.
Aww, isn't Sybil the cutest?!! I love her and I hated that they killed her off in the third season.
Badly done!

Let us not forget Cora.

We meet Bates, who we have seen in the train at the very beginning at episode 1. And Sarah O'Brien. Ugh, I hated her already the first time I saw her, so unfriendly and mean. Well, let me say I don't like her, hate is a big word. I shouldn't use that.

And Anna and Bates are already being cute!!!😍

So, now Mary's fiance died, Robert Grantham has to tell his eldest daughter her fiancé died.
You know what her reaction is? Do I have to go in black?😱 Seriously, come on! You're fiancé died. Okay, I understand her, because she barely knew him. But it's giving respect to him and they have to wear black, cause it's giving respect. Right?
But Robert did give her the choice of choosing whether she would wear black or not. It was her choice. I was glad she did wore black, even though she wasn't so sad about him.

Thomas, who we have seen before in the beginning, has to show Bates around and he doesn't like that. He was waiting for this position and now Bates took it away from him. It isn't fair, his words not mine. :D I can't blame him though, but he should have said something. Then maybe he could have the position.

YYASS! We meet Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham. What a name though.
Cora being sweet as always. She and Violet don't like each other so much, but make plans to save Cora's money away from the estate so Mary can have it. Or something like that. They are allies now.

Downstairs everything goes normal like everyday. Mrs Patmore is cooking again and is complaining about Daisy all the time. I don't like Mrs Patmore, not cause she's being rude to Daisy all the time, but I just don't like her. Nothing to say about it. But, she's a good cook.
Oh Daisy. She's totally smitten by Thomas. Why? Poor William (another staff member) who has an eye on Daisy.

I like Daisy, she's so sweet and innocent. She has a funny accent too.

I'm actually glad we live in today's world. It isn't perfect, but nothing is perfect. Well, in the time of Downton, girls couldn't inherite anything. All the men could have the money. As girl it was kinda you're duty to marry a rich man and have children. Why though? Woman have rights too, you know.
Servants didn't got anything, they had to save forever to get something. Like, so unfair!
But Violet and Cora are going to do everything so the money goes to Mary. They tried, at least.
Mary and Edith argue all the thime and are trying to make each other's life sour, in a manner of speaking.
O'Brien knows everything, cause she's Cora's ladies maid. That's a good position I might say. And she tells Thomas everything. Oh no, that's not good. :D

I love the fact that all the Crawley sisters have a lot of nice dresses. Even their black dresses are so nice, with glitter and all. So, Anna is ladies maid of the Crawley sisters, oh my, wouldn't that be a nice job. I totally would love having a job like that. Dressing girls, going upstairs every day and clean their rooms.
Gosh! I loved the scene where Violet enters the living room with all the electricity!😂
She's a legend, I love her so much and I laugh all the time.
And then finally the everyone can wear colour again!! THOSE DRESSES!! *sqeesh!*
A duke visited their house, I didn't like him. He pooked around the servants hall with Mary. You shouldn't do that, even though you live in the house. Oh Mary, you're doing stupid things again. She was ashamed of herself when they got caught, by Bates himself.
I love the dinner scenes in Downton. So much food and there is always something to talk about. It is also fun to see what they wear, they upstairs people of Downton always changed their clothes when they had dinner, or breakfast and lunch. Wow!
But, I liked downstairs more. Even though being fancy and rich is fun, I would rather be downstairs. It's more cozier and you can be who you are. Upstairs you mostly have to adjust to their sort of living. :)
Aww, the scene between Bates and Anna was so sweet. Bates fell down when they greeted the duke, thanks to stupid O'Briend, and now he was crying in his bedroom.😪 Anna brought him some food and felt sorry for him, not in a bad way but a good way.😺
Talking about the Duke, Mary really likes him, but he only cares about money. Ugh, I hate that. Why do men always want money. He wanted to have a relationship with Mary, but as soon as he heard that she didn't had anything, he ended it (in a manner of speaking). He was talking with Robert about it and Mary didn't know anything.
He told Mary after the conversation and she was so sad. I even felt sorry for her, she liked him very much. And then Edith came with her hateful comments. UGH! STOP EDITH, don't be so jealous. But Mary turned into a snob again and fired away to Edith.
The scene between Thomas and the Duke is juggy, so no further details or comments from me.

And finally the Duke left, FINALLY! I was releaved. Bye bye, see you no more!😛 (I mean, aren't I?)
And Bates left too, I almost forgot to tell that story.
Thanks to O'Brien (again) and Cora, Robert was forced to fire Bates because of his injury. Cora said Bates wasn't able enough to hold on to the job and nobody liked him so much downstairs (O'Brien of course). So Bates left.
But the funny thing, Robert couldn't do it, seeing Bates driving away. So Robert stopped the car and asked Bates to get out and forget everything that happened. 😃
Carson didn't agreed with that, his face was so funny when Robert ran to the car! But eventually he accepted Bates.
Now, before we close up the review of the day, let me say one thing. We haven't talked about the new heir yet. BUT....WE GOT TO SEE HIM.....in the really end of episode 1!
When we first watched the episode 1, I was really curious who the new heir was of Downton.
Well, he's Matthew Crawley, a far cousin from Robert's side. :) And he is with his mother.
We have come to an end. Episode 2 review will come tomorrow!
